BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM
Calendar and Location Change Over the Mardi Gras Break we began the first phase of renovations in our school gym with the removal of the floors. Upon returning to campus, we had not realized how this process would affect our Black History Program that was originally scheduled for Friday, February 28th. McKinley Middle Magnet School has graciously agreed to allow us to host our program in their auditorium on Friday, March 6th at 10:00 am. We will transport our entire student body to their campus by school bus for the program. Students will begin leaving the campus at 9:00 am and all students will return to campus following the program. Parents are invited to attend. McKinley Middle is located at 1550 Eddie Robinson Sr Dr. Please check your students backpack for a bright, orange permission slip. Please complete and return the permission slip as soon as possible. Gavin K. is the elementary winner of the Speak Out Poster Contest. The contest was designed to give students an opportunity to express themselves and speak out on the topic of their choice through art. The artwork showcased student’s talent and bravery with speaking out about topics such as violence, equality, drug awareness, bullying, and self-identity. Congrats Gavin!
Our WHAM Pre-k team was recognized at the School Board Meeting on February 20th for receiving an Excellent Early Childhood Rating for 2019. This is the 5th year in a row that our team has received an Excellent rating. We appreciate their hard work and dedication!
Katrice Hall was selected as the East Baton Rouge Parish School System Elementary Teacher of the Year. We are so proud of Ms. Hall. She will represent the school district in the regional competition. Way to go Ms. Hall!
