Good morning Teachers and Administrators,
We hope you are well! This school year, our Department of Environmental Services helped to coordinate a competition among local schools, who participated in the Plastic Bag Roundup recycling challenge. A total of 11 of our area middle schools participated in this challenge to recycle plastic film and grocery bags from November 2019 to March 2020, collecting and recycling a total of more than 1,600 pounds of plastic materials! With 326 pounds collected and recycled, the winning school is Westdale Heights Academic Magnet School! Way to go! Westdale Heights will receive a park bench made from recyclable materials donated by the recycling office and recognition from the Mayor Broome in the coming months. We would like to thank all our local schools for participating in this challenge – you have all made a difference and we look forward to recycling with you again next school year! Thanks, Michael Lowe Wastewater Treatment Lab Supervisor/ School Outreach Coordinator City of Baton Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge/ Department of Environmental Services Dear WHAM family,
Tomorrow would have been the 5th grade recognition ceremony at WHAM. Although we can`t celebrate this year in person, we are still so proud and excited for our 5th graders as they continue to learn and grow and follow their dreams. If you have a 5th grade student, please show them this video, give them a hug from all the WHAM teachers and staff, and tell them we think they are amazing! |
