Westdale Heights Academic Magnet’s program focuses on educating the whole child. We use science, technology, writing, and problem solving skills throughout the curriculum to provide instruction that meets the needs of all learners. Our focus is on science and environmental awareness. Through our exciting Science Lab, our science specialist is able to teach hands-on science lessons and provide meaningful engaging learning activities for students based on grade level appropriateness. Our science specialist also collaborates with classroom teachers so that science is taught across the curriculum and not in isolation. We have a Computer/Technology Lab with a computer specialist who works closely with teachers to effectively use computers and technology within lessons and not in isolation. Our literacy specialist assists students and teachers with writing across the curriculum for developing successful, lifelong writers.
“WHAM” offers exciting opportunities for students who desire a rigorous educational program in which subjects are integrated with science, writing, technology, and problem solving skills. Students are offered a variety of subjects and extracurricular activities to encourage opportunities to inquire, explore, and produce projects based on individual interests. At WHAM, we work to educate the student as a whole. We provide educational and social learning opportunities for every student in a safe, caring atmosphere. Our staff works diligently to help every individual student achieve success and at the same time build teams and support groups within their peer groups. WHAM is an extraordinary school community!
